“Expressing your creativity is done more by the way you are living
than by any other gesture.” - Douglas Pagels I have been a part of the writing world all my life. Crafting stories, articles, children's books, and plays since I was little, I decided to pursue my passion as a full-time career. Attending Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, I majored in English with a concentration in creative writing. Studying with some of the best writers and teachers in the country (including Pulitzer Prize winner, Steven Millhauser, and Emmy winner, Tom Lewis) I learned many valuable skills to improve all aspects of my writing - creative or otherwise. In the summer of 2000, I interned as a screenwriter & producer's assistant at 20th Century Fox in Beverly Hills, California. My passion for both the screen and theater has continued to thrive. I write screenplays in various genres and produce and act in local theater venues, which gives me insider’s knowledge of what works onstage and what doesn’t. I am also a current member of the Capital-Saratoga Film Commission and the Certified Professional Writers Association. Broadening my horizons into editing, I worked on several types of projects including editing doctorate papers. But most recently, I have been a developmental editor, developing first and additional edition textbooks in a variety of subjects including health care, education, and fire science. I have worked with several top publishing companies, including Pearson Prentice Hall, McGraw-Hill, Elsevier, and Delmar Cengage, as well as Triple SSS Press Media Development. I then began to concentrate more on the craft of article writing and have since had several articles published through the Adirondack Sports & Fitness Magazine. I have also contributed articles for eHow.com. I specialize in articles on dance, fitness, and nutrition, however, I have enjoyed writing for other subject areas as well. I am happy to also be a regular contributor to the Albany Dance Examiner. This has provided me a relaxed atmosphere to combine my love of writing with my love of dance and my local community. It has been an honor to help bring this dance community together on many different levels. Although my first love is creative writing (specializing in Children/Young Adult Fiction and supernatural stories), I have also very much enjoyed getting into the business writing arena. It creates a greater sense of satisfaction than I originally thought possible to create copy that produces measurable results! To be able to take a business’ mission, and put that purpose to words has been an exciting and fulfilling challenge. It is with great enthusiasm that I focus my writing talents into this latest venture. Samples of my work in the various genres can be found in the Portfolio as well as various entries on the blog. |
